Geneva, IL – 9/26/23– Penrose Brewing is proud to announce its success at the 2023 U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Championship. This year’s competition featured competition from across the nation, and Penrose was awarded four collective medals for its Seltz-Up series hard seltzers.
The competition evaluates seltzers on their quality, taste, and innovation.The U.S. Open Championships work with the Niagara College Teaching Winery and Teaching Brewery for the judging of the submissions. Almost 70 Hard Seltzer brewers from across the country entered a record 251 hard seltzers in the 2023 U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Championship.
Penrose’s performance at the 2023 U.S. Open Hard Seltzer Championship includes the following medal wins:
Lemon/Lemonade: Lemon Seltz-Up – Gold Medal
Flavored Lemonade: Pink Lemon Seltz-Up – Gold Medal
Flavored Lemonade: Blackberry Lemon Seltz-Up – Bronze Medal
Anything Goes: Lemon Tea-Up – Gold Medal

Lemon Seltz-Up added to its accreditations as it also was awarded a Gold Medal from the Beverage Tasting Institute in July 2023.
Lemon Seltz-Up, Blackberry Lemon Seltz-Up, and Lemon Tea-Up are all available for purchase in four-pack of cans at the Penrose Taproom at 509 Stevens St, Geneva, IL. Many beverage retailers in Chicagoland also offer Lemon Seltz-Up and select additional flavors. Currently the Seltz-Up series is only available in Illinois. Penrose plans to release a new flavor, Apple Cider Donut on Friday, September 29 at the taproom to the public.
